Tuition Fees in Coimbatore, 2026
Published tuition rates in Coimbatore by class and subject, where the numbers come from, and why the advertised figure is usually higher than what you will pay.

Nobody in Coimbatore publishes what they charge, which is why every conversation about tuition starts with an awkward guess. This page collects the numbers that are public, says exactly where each came from, and explains why the figure you finally pay will probably be lower.
Published rates, and who published them
Two intermediaries publish rate cards for Coimbatore. Both were checked on 31 July 2026.
Tutor Bureau, a home-tuition agency operating since 1986, lists these as starting rates for one-to-one home tuition in Coimbatore. Every figure is “per hour onwards”, so treat them as floors rather than typical prices:

Superprof, a tutor marketplace, puts the average private home-tuition rate in Coimbatore at roughly ₹598 per hour, with listings starting near ₹399, and notes that most of its tutors offer a free first class.

Read those numbers carefully
They are useful, but they are not what the average family in Coimbatore pays, for three reasons:
- They are asking prices, not transaction prices. Nobody publishes what was actually agreed after a conversation. Advertised rates are the top of the range by construction.
- An agency rate contains the agency. Tutor Bureau and Superprof are intermediaries and their margin is inside those figures. A direct arrangement between a parent and a teacher does not carry it. This is the single biggest gap between the table above and reality.
- “Onwards” is doing a lot of work. A ₹500 floor tells you what the cheapest available option costs, not what a good class 5 maths tutor in R.S. Puram charges.
There is also a whole category missing: group classes at a coaching centre, which is how most tuition in Coimbatore is actually delivered and which costs a fraction of these per-hour figures per student. Neither source rate-cards it, because neither sells it.
The four questions that make quotes comparable
Two teachers quoting “₹600 an hour” can differ by several thousand rupees a month. Ask all four, every time:
- What is the monthly total? For a stated number of sessions. This is the only number that matters.
- How long is a session? Sixty and ninety minutes are both called “one class”.
- Are notes, worksheets and test papers included? Sometimes separate, and occasionally a large add-on near exams.
- What happens to a missed class? Whose absence is made up and whose is not. Settle it in the first conversation, not the third month.
What moves the price
In rough order of how much difference each makes:
- One-to-one versus a small group. Organising two or three neighbourhood children into one batch is the largest saving available to most families, and it costs the teacher nothing to agree to.
- Travel. Evening traffic across Coimbatore is billable time the teacher cannot recover. A tutor already working in your area is cheaper for the identical lesson.
- Level and subject. Class 11 and 12 physics, chemistry and maths cost visibly more, because far fewer people can teach them well.
- Timing relative to the exam. Booking in April costs less than booking in November for the same course.
- Online versus in person. Online removes travel from the teacher’s day, and the saving is usually passed on.

That is a number nobody else in Coimbatore has, because nobody else is holding the data. Where a fee box on this site is blank, it means no listing in that category has published a fee yet. We would rather show a gap than an estimate dressed up as a fact.
