About Coimbatore Book Festival
The Coimbatore Book Festival (கோயம்புத்தூர் புத்தகத் திருவிழா) is a ten-day festival that CODISSIA started in 2016 and holds every year at its Trade Fair Complex. Since 2022 it has been run with the participation and guidance of the Coimbatore district administration. The festival's site describes it as the biggest book festival in western Tamil Nadu, with more than 300 book stalls and about one lakh titles.
Recent festivals were in the second half of July: 22 to 31 July 2022, 21 to 30 July 2023, 19 to 28 July 2024, and 17 to 26 July 2026, which CODISSIA called the 10th edition, opened in Hall C. Alongside the stalls, the organiser runs Ilakkiya Koodal, a programme of literary events, and Arivukkeni, reading and competitions for students, plus cultural programmes every evening.
Each year the festival presents one lifetime achievement award and three awards for young writers, in poetry, fiction and non-fiction, for writers aged up to 40. The organiser has not announced the 2027 dates yet.
